Local privilege escalation via double stream release
Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Use-after-free in the Linux kernel AMD display driver allows local users to corrupt memory through a crafted DRM atomic commit. In dm_update_crtc_state(), the skip_modeset branch releases new_stream without clearing it, so a later color-management error releases the dangling pointer again. The path requires DRM-master access to an AMD GPU card node; exploitation can panic the kernel or elevate the caller's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
