Denial of service via leaked streaming buffers
Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Resource leakage in the Linux kernel Airspy driver from 3.17 through 7.1.5 allows local users to cause a system denial of service. airspy_start_streaming returns early after USB disconnection without returning buffers previously accepted by buf_queue, leaving them owned by the driver. Reachability requires Airspy SDR hardware, queued streaming buffers, and a device disconnection that makes streaming startup fail.
