Kernel memory disclosure via unchecked H.264 DPB index
Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
An out-of-bounds read in the Linux Cedrus H.264 decoder from 5.10 allows local users to disclose kernel memory or crash the system. The _cedrus_write_ref_list() function uses unvalidated ref_pic_list0 and ref_pic_list1 indices to read beyond the fixed decode->dpb[] array. Access requires a local account able to open the Cedrus video device on Allwinner hardware; systems without the Cedrus VPU are unaffected.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
