Host crash via unchecked control pointer
Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
A NULL-pointer write in the Linux kernel's Alvium CSI-2 camera driver allows local users to crash the host during control initialization. In drivers/media/i2c/alvium-csi2.c, alvium_ctrl_init() sets flags through control pointers without checking whether control creation returned NULL. Reaching the faulty initialization path requires compatible Alvium camera hardware; the resulting invalid kernel write interrupts service by crashing the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
