CVE-2026-68222

Service interruption via unreleased streaming buffers

Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026

Resource leakage in the Linux msi2500 media driver allows local users to cause a service interrupt by triggering streaming failures. The msi2500_start_streaming function overwrites errors or returns without passing queued vb2 buffers to vb2_buffer_done, leaving buffers and, on one path, isochronous URBs outstanding. Reachability requires local access and MSI2500 SDR hardware; repeated failed stream starts can destabilize the system without affecting confidentiality or integrity.
