Kernel memory corruption via zero-length bitmap write
Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in Linux kernel iomap from 6.6 allows local users to corrupt kernel memory through a faulting write buffer. The dirty-range helper subtracts one from a zero length, underflows the block calculation, and passes a huge range to bitmap_set beyond the state allocation. Reachability requires a low-privileged local write, an already-uptodate folio, and a user-buffer fault; the result can corrupt memory or crash the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
