CVE-2026-68141Network attack vector

LPAR crash via unchecked NULL socket cleanup

Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026

NULL pointer dereference in the Linux AF_IUCV stack allows remote attackers to crash an IBM Z LPAR via HiperSockets SYN traffic. afiucv_hs_callback_syn() allocates a child socket with GFP_ATOMIC but calls iucv_sock_kill() when allocation returns NULL, causing sock_flag() to dereference NULL. A remote LPAR or guest must reach a listening AF_IUCV service and induce allocation failure; exploitation can panic the victim kernel until reboot.
