Kernel crash via unpinned scan interface
Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux mac802154 allows local users with CAP_NET_ADMIN to crash the kernel by racing scan and interface deletion. mac802154_scan_worker() retains sdata->dev after leaving RCU protection, while concurrent interface removal lets unregister_netdevice() free that netdev before later beacon or cleanup dereferences. Exploitation requires both TRIGGER_SCAN and DEL_INTERFACE privileges and can interrupt the host through a kernel memory-safety failure.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
