System crash via authentication-tag length underflow
Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in Linux 3.16 through 7.2-rc4 allows physically proximate attackers to crash systems via crafted IEEE 802.15.4 frames. llsec_do_decrypt_auth subtracts the authentication-tag length without first ensuring that the frame payload is at least that long, then passes the wrapped unsigned length to AEAD decryption. An IEEE 802.15.4 interface with link-layer security must process the frame from a peer in radio range; the demonstrated result is a kernel fault.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
