CVE-2026-68117Network attack vector

Kernel code execution via failed TIPC socket insertion

Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026

Use-after-free in Linux kernel TIPC allows remote attackers to crash the kernel or execute code through failed socket insertion during accept. tipc_sk_create() frees a socket after tipc_sk_insert() fails but leaves sock->sk dangling, so tipc_release() writes to the freed sk_lock. Reachability requires a listening TIPC service and exhaustion of the per-namespace socket hash table to roughly two million entries.
