Information disclosure via unvalidated CFDP destination paths
Published Aug 3, 2026 · Updated Aug 3, 2026
Improper path control in CF_CFDP_RecvMd() in NASA cFS 7.0.1 allows remote attackers to select retained-file paths via CFDP metadata. The receive path copies an untrusted Metadata PDU dest_filename into transaction state and passes it unchanged to OS_mv when the transfer completes. A remote peer that can send valid inbound CFDP transactions needs no target credentials; the published reproduction proves arbitrary retained-path selection, while only information disclosure is scored.
