Telemetry file redirection via path-bearing basename
Published Aug 3, 2026 · Updated Aug 3, 2026
Path traversal in NASA cFS 7.0.1 allows remote attackers to redirect Data Storage output into a chosen filesystem subtree. The DS_SetDestBaseCmd handler stores a command-supplied basename without rejecting path separators, and file creation later appends that value to the configured destination path. Exploitation requires a deployment that lets valid DS_CMD_MID messages reach the software bus; successful use redirects telemetry files, while subsequent disclosure depends on filesystem access.
