Unauthenticated RCE via factory-test authentication exemption
Published Aug 17, 2026 · Updated Aug 18, 2026
Authentication bypass in Tenda W20E V5.0 16.01.0.6(2782) allows remote attackers to execute root-level code through the ATE service. The url_need_login function exempts /goform/ate when sys.admin.password is empty; the endpoint then starts /bin/ate, which accepts encrypted UDP commands under a hardcoded key. Factory-default devices have an empty administrator password; internet exploitation additionally requires WAN exposure of the management interface, and successful access permits NVRAM reads and system-command execution.
