Command execution via repository-controlled fsmonitor hook
Published Aug 5, 2026 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Remote code execution in Mistral AI Mistral Vibe before 2.23.3 allows attackers to execute commands through a crafted repository. ProjectContextProvider._run_git invokes git status --porcelain without overriding repository-controlled core.fsmonitor, so Git launches the helper named in .git/config. Execution occurs when a user runs any Vibe command inside the crafted repository, before the trust dialog, and grants the payload that user's privileges.
