Unauthenticated API takeover via unattached middleware
Published Jul 30, 2026 · Updated Jul 30, 2026
Missing authentication in Spikster through commit e1cdf8c allows remote attackers to control its management API without credentials. CipiAuth is registered as cipi.auth, but the API route group applies only the non-authenticating api middleware, leaving its routes unguarded. Network access to the panel is sufficient to enumerate or provision servers, reset root passwords, create database users, and read or write host files.
