Provider takeover via missing owner binding

Published Aug 1, 2026 · Updated Aug 1, 2026

Authorization bypass in Better Auth SCIM Plugin 1.5.0 through 1.7.0-beta.3 allows remote authenticated users to take over SCIM providers. The default non-organization path leaves scimProvider.userId unset, and its access check rejects a caller only when a stored owner differs. A deployment must register the plugin, use ownerless non-organization providers, leave providerOwnership disabled, and have multiple authenticated users; remote authenticated users can read or delete connections, rotate bearer tokens, invalidate legitimate tokens, and use new tokens on enabled SCIM routes.
