Account takeover via provider-ID collision

Published Aug 1, 2026 · Updated Aug 1, 2026

Authorization bypass in @better-auth/scim 1.4.0-beta.27 through 1.6.21 allows remote authenticated users to take over accounts. Token issuance accepts a provider ID used by another account provider, and SCIM routes treat that identifier as proof of account ownership. Versions 1.7.0-beta.0 through 1.7.0-beta.9 are also affected; token-generation access and a colliding namespace enable reading, rewriting, or deleting users and sessions.
