Denial of service via unguarded JSON serialization
Published Aug 1, 2026 · Updated Aug 1, 2026
Uncontrolled recursion in Axios 0.31.1 before 0.33.0 and 1.15.1 before 1.18.0 allows remote attackers to interrupt request handling. The top-level '{}' metatoken branch in lib/helpers/toFormData.js calls JSON.stringify on deeply nested object values before the maxDepth guard can inspect them. Reachability requires application code to pass attacker-controlled keys and nested values into Axios form or parameter serialization; the resulting RangeError crashes the affected request path and can terminate a worker or process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
