Unauthorized message routing via missing alternate-exchange permission checks
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Authorization bypass in RabbitMQ Server 4.2.0 through 4.2.8 and 4.3.0 through 4.3.2 lets remote authenticated users reroute messages. The AMQP 1.0 management exchange.declare handler passes the alternate-exchange argument to rabbit_exchange:declare/7 without checking read permission on the declared exchange or write permission on the alternate exchange. An account with configure access to one exchange can therefore send its unroutable messages to an exchange where that account lacks write access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
