Node crash via unbounded WebSocket decompression
Published Sep 23, 2026 · Updated Sep 23, 2026
Resource exhaustion in affected RabbitMQ Server releases before 3.13.15, 4.0.20, 4.1.11, or 4.2.6 allows remote attackers to crash a node. The Web-MQTT handler enables permessage-deflate without a maximum frame size, so cow_ws:parse_payload/9 inflates attacker-controlled data without an output limit before MQTT CONNECT processing. Exploitation requires the non-default rabbitmq_web_mqtt plugin and network access to its listener; no credentials or user interaction are required, and memory exhaustion can terminate the node.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=>= 3.13.0, < 3.13.15
