Admin arbitrary file write via trace-name traversal
Published Sep 23, 2026 · Updated Sep 23, 2026
Path traversal in RabbitMQ Server before 3.13.15, 4.0.20, 4.1.11, 4.2.6, and 4.3.1 allows remote authenticated users to write files. The tracing plugin joins the API-supplied trace name to TraceDir with a forced .log suffix but performs no safe-relative-path validation before opening the output. Exploitation requires the tracing plugin, an administrator-tagged account, and a destination writable by the RabbitMQ service account; writes remain limited to .log-suffixed paths.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
