Broker crash via JMS selector atom exhaustion
Published Sep 23, 2026 · Updated Sep 23, 2026
Denial of service in RabbitMQ Server 3.13 and affected 4.x releases allows remote authenticated users to crash a broker node. The JMS topic exchange add_binding/3 path sends the unbounded rjms_erlang_selector value through erl_scan:string/1, which permanently interns every atom literal. Exploitation requires the rabbitmq_jms_topic_exchange plugin and AMQP permissions to read the exchange and write a queue; fewer than 100 crafted bindings can exhaust the node-wide atom table and interrupt every tenant.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
