Code execution via FITS allocation integer overflow

Heap-based buffer overflow in GIMP's file-fits plugin on Red Hat Enterprise Linux allows attackers to corrupt memory via a crafted FITS image. Signed 32-bit width and height values overflow during allocation-size multiplication, creating an undersized heap buffer before cfitsio writes a full pixel row. Exploitation requires a user to open the file; successful memory corruption crashes GIMP or executes code in that user's context, with SELinux, ASLR, and NX impeding code execution.
