Unauthenticated code execution via update_agent file write
Published May 12, 2026 · Updated May 12, 2026
Missing authorization in GWD Conex 2.9 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute PHP code through standalone agent endpoints. The gwd-backup.php and gwd-logs.php handlers accept update_agent requests without authentication when no API key is configured and write supplied PHP into the agent file. Exploitation requires an unregistered installation, the default unset API key, and an environment where the agent file is writable and web-executable.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
