CVE-2026-66152Hinoki check available

Root file write via tarball path traversal

Published Aug 25, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026

Path traversal in the OPSWAT tarball handler in SonicWall NetExtender 10.3.5 and earlier allows attackers to write arbitrary files as root. The Linux client extracts attacker-controlled tarball paths without confining them to the intended destination, so traversal entries can replace root-owned files. SonicWall has not published how attackers supply the tarball or what access is required; the confirmed consequence is an attacker-chosen file write with root privileges.
