Silent automation execution via unapproved tag links
Published Aug 7, 2026 · Updated Aug 7, 2026
Missing authorization in Home Assistant Companion for iOS before 2026.5.0 allows local users to trigger tag-bound automations silently. iOSTagManager.handle(userActivity:) accepts attacker-chosen universal-link tag IDs and calls fireEvent(tag:) through the stored session without validating the caller or obtaining approval. A logged-in Companion app with a configured server is required; an unprivileged local app can issue integrity-affecting actions tied to guessed or known tags.
