Persistent code execution via traversal file write
Published Jul 27, 2026 · Updated Jul 27, 2026
Path traversal in NitroShare Desktop 0.3.4 and earlier allows remote attackers on the same network to write arbitrary files. The LAN transfer server combines the unvalidated JSON item-header name with the transfer root, allowing traversal sequences to escape that directory. No authentication or user interaction is required by default; writing an executable to the Windows Startup folder produces persistent code execution at the next login.
