Unauthenticated administrator takeover via missing MCP authorization
Published Jul 25, 2026 · Updated Jul 25, 2026
Missing authorization in SiYuan before 3.7.2 allows remote attackers to take over an administrator account through the POST /mcp endpoint. The route applies only model.CheckAuth, while the anonymous Publish proxy supplies a RoleReader JWT that can invoke workspace-wide MCP file operations without an administrator or read-only check. Anonymous Publish mode must be enabled; exposed attackers can read stored credentials, alter or delete workspace files, and plant a plugin that executes on the next desktop launch.
