SQL injection via unescaped ClickHouse variable backslashes
Published Sep 21, 2026 · Updated Sep 21, 2026
SQL injection in Chartbrew 5.2.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary ClickHouse SQL through chart variables. The ClickHouse protocol passes user-controlled values to applySqlVariables without enabling backslash escaping, so a backslash before a quote defeats quote doubling and exits the string literal. Public ClickHouse-backed dashboards with variable binding require no authentication; injected queries can disclose database data or, when permitted, read files and reach internal services.
