Low-privilege RCE via unguarded render_template
Published Aug 17, 2026 · Updated Aug 18, 2026
Server-side template injection in Frappe safe execution in Frappe ERPNext before 15.111.0 and 16.22.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via crafted template input. In frappe/utils/safe_exec.py, render_safe_globals exposed frappe.render_template directly, and the vulnerable call path did not force restrict_globals until commit 529d190 replaced it with a wrapper that always sets that guard. Any low-privilege account that can reach a safe-execution template sink can cross the intended permission boundary and run code in the server process, with resulting read, write, and service impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
