Command execution via evaluated attacker-controlled array keys
Published Oct 12, 2026 · Updated Oct 12, 2026
Eval injection in PHPCSUtils 1.0.0-alpha1 through 1.2.2 allows attackers to execute commands via array keys in scanned PHP code. AbstractArrayDeclarationSniff::getActualArrayKey() evaluates untrusted key expressions with eval(), executing callback-form keys instead of only inspecting them. Exploitation requires scanning attacker-controlled code with a sniff that calls this method, including Universal.Arrays.DuplicateArrayKey or Universal.Arrays.MixedArrayKeyTypes, and executes commands on the scanning host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
