Arbitrary file read via unchecked weight_map paths
Published Jul 23, 2026 · Updated Jul 23, 2026
Path traversal in Hugging Face Diffusers 0 through 0.39.0 allows attackers to read arbitrary safetensors files during model loading. _get_checkpoint_shard_files joins untrusted weight_map entries to the model directory without rejecting absolute paths or parent-directory references, then passes existing paths to the shard loader. The target application must load a malicious sharded model index; safetensors targets are fully readable, while other files expose paths or trigger errors.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
