Node admission webhook crash via malformed regex
Published Jul 30, 2026 · Updated Jul 30, 2026
Improper input validation in Project Capsule's Capsule before 0.13.8 allows remote authenticated users to interrupt Node admission. The configuration admission webhook stores unvalidated NodeMetadata forbidden-label or forbidden-annotation regexes, and RegexMatch passes them to regexp.MustCompile. Cluster Administrator access is required; one malformed stored expression makes every Node create, update, or patch request panic the node webhook.
