Privilege escalation via use-after-free
Published Aug 11, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026
Use-after-free in Windows Autopilot in Windows 11 24H2, 25H2, and 26H1 allows local users to gain elevated privileges. Microsoft has disclosed only that Windows Autopilot performs a use-after-free on a local authorized code path; no public advisory text, patch diff, or named routine describing the stale-pointer trigger was found in the published source record. Exploitation requires local code execution with existing user access and yields same-host privilege escalation, and the published CISA ADP enrichment reports no known exploitation.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
