Host file disclosure via unconstrained agent tools
Published Jul 23, 2026 · Updated Jul 23, 2026
Path traversal in Void 1.3.4 and earlier allows remote attackers to read arbitrary host files through AI agent file-reading tools. The validateURI routine accepts absolute paths and file URIs without workspace confinement, while the approval map omits read_file and related tools. Exploitation requires the desktop agent to process attacker-influenced content, after which sensitive local files can be read and passed to subsequent tool calls.
