Unauthenticated privileged client creation via dynamic registration

Published Jul 30, 2026 · Updated Jul 30, 2026

Improper isolation in malach.it Boruta 2.3.0 through 2.3.6 allows remote attackers to create over-privileged OAuth clients via dynamic registration. Boruta.Openid.register_client/3 passes the caller's registration map through parse_registration_params/2, which leaves admin-only fields intact for the shared administrative creation path. Exploitation requires a host application to expose this non-default entry point without a trusted initial access token or strict server-side allowlist, enabling unauthorized token issuance, introspection, or revocation within the server's policy.
