Command execution via preview-tabbed filename injection

Command injection in preview-tabbed in Arun Prakash Jana nnn 5.2 allows attackers to execute shell commands via a crafted filename. In the preview-tabbed workflow, the hovered filename is embedded into a generated shell command, and CERT.PL states that a single quote followed by shell syntax in that name is executed by the invoked shell. Exploitation requires attacker-controlled content on a shared filesystem, removable media, or an extracted archive and a victim action to open the file with preview-tabbed, after which the payload runs with the privileges of the nnn process.
