Administrator arbitrary file upload via unchecked MIME validation
Published Jul 23, 2026 · Updated Jul 23, 2026
Arbitrary file upload in Really Simple CSV Importer 1.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to store disallowed files via CSV import. The attachment and thumbnail paths accept post_thumbnail or media_file values and persist fetched or local files without rejecting empty or disallowed MIME results. Administrator access to Tools > Import is required; a crafted CSV can place attacker-selected content in WordPress uploads, where server handling determines executability.
