Service interrupt during image parsing
Published Aug 17, 2026 · Updated Aug 18, 2026
Denial of service in ImageIO in Apple macOS before 26.6.2 allows attackers to interrupt service via a crafted image file. Apple has disclosed only that ImageIO performed insufficient checks while processing image input; no public advisory, CVE record, or referenced patch identifies a lower-level function, parser stage, or file operation. Exploitation requires an image to be opened or otherwise parsed by the vulnerable system, and the published impact is bounded to availability loss such as a crash rather than code execution or data exposure.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.

CVSS describes severity. EPSS estimates exploitation probability.
Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
Public exploit references
No public exploit references are available in this record.
Labels summarize the accepted research assessment. They do not indicate a test against your environment.
