CVE-2026-6534Public exploit

Service interruption via unbounded USB HID loop

Published Apr 30, 2026 · Updated Apr 30, 2026

Infinite loop in Wireshark's USB HID dissector in 4.4.0 through 4.4.14 and 4.6.0 through 4.6.4 allows attackers to exhaust CPU and memory. The ARRAY-field loop uses an attacker-controlled REPORT_COUNT without an upper bound, while a zero REPORT_SIZE leaves the bit offset unchanged and allocates protocol-tree memory on every iteration. Processing a crafted HID report descriptor in live traffic or a packet trace can hang Wireshark or terminate it through memory exhaustion.
