Administrator escalation via overprivileged SNMP caller identities
Published Oct 13, 2026 · Updated Oct 13, 2026
Privilege escalation in openUBMC SNMP mapping allows remote authenticated users to invoke administrative backend operations via SNMP. In route_mapper/account.lua, get_user_privilege returns all nine privileges for special_users, including the SNMPv1_v2c pseudo-user, rather than preserving caller restrictions. Exploitation requires reachable SNMP service and low-privilege SNMP access; the consequence is administrative execution of mapped backend operations.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

CVSS describes severity. EPSS estimates exploitation probability.
Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
