Device takeover via shared default SNMPv3 keys
Published Oct 13, 2026 · Updated Oct 13, 2026
Hardcoded SNMPv3 keys in Huawei openUBMC 26.06 and earlier allow remote attackers to administer devices and decrypt traffic. The manifest build customization and account manufacture default_password.lua files seed identical authentication and encryption keys across devices, independently of Administrator password resets. Exploitation requires reachable SNMPv3 with the shipped keys retained; accepted management requests include system resets and firmware upgrades.
