Local IPC data disclosure via insecure backing file
Published Jul 21, 2026 · Updated Jul 21, 2026
Incorrect backing-file creation in Data::SpatialHash::Shared before 0.02 allows local users to read shared IPC data via its mmap file. The sphash.h segment opener calls open(path, O_RDWR|O_CREAT, 0666) without O_EXCL or O_NOFOLLOW, creating a broadly readable file and accepting pre-planted files or symlinks. Exploitation requires local access to the shared file path; exposed IPC payloads can be read, while path pre-creation can redirect the mapping.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
