Stored XSS via unsanitized imported question HTML
Published Oct 19, 2026 · Updated Oct 19, 2026
Stored XSS in Apache Answer 2.0.2 and earlier allows attackers to execute scripts in viewers' browsers via imported questions. The importer persists question bodies as raw HTML instead of applying the normal Markdown-to-HTML sanitization path. Exploitation requires attacker-controlled HTML to enter an imported data source and a viewer to open the resulting content, including privileged viewers; execution occurs in the browser rather than on the server.
