Code execution via crafted file parsing
Published Aug 11, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026
Heap-based buffer overflow in Microsoft Office Access allows remote attackers to execute code by convincing a user to open a crafted file. Access performs unsafe heap writes while parsing attacker-controlled Office file content, so a malformed file can corrupt memory before normal validation completes. Exploitation requires user interaction and reaches code execution in the context of the opening user; reviewed public summaries state that Preview Pane rendering is not an attack vector.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
