Local code execution via type confusion
Published Aug 11, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026
Type confusion in Microsoft Office allows remote attackers to execute code locally via a crafted document that a user opens. Microsoft has disclosed only that Office accesses a resource as an incompatible type; no public advisory, CVE record, or patch note identifies the affected parser, file format, or function. Exploitation requires user interaction and runs in the context of the current user, affecting supported Windows Office releases before the August 2026 security updates and Mac releases before 16.112.26081010.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Published CVSS scores
CVSS describes severity. EPSS estimates exploitation probability.
