Unauthorized database updates via inconsistent request checks
Published Jul 23, 2026 · Updated Jul 23, 2026
Cross-site request forgery in Regular Labs GeoIP 1.0.0 through 6.3.8 allows remote attackers to trigger unauthorized database updates. Database-update handlers do not consistently validate Joomla request tokens or require Super User authorization before accepting state-changing requests. Exploitation requires user interaction with a crafted request, and the resulting update can alter the server-stored MaxMind geolocation database.
