App-triggered system crash via AVEVideoEncoder out-of-bounds read
Published Jul 27, 2026 · Updated Jul 27, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in AVEVideoEncoder in Apple macOS before 14.8.8, 15.7.8, or 26.6 allows local users to crash the system. Apple identifies insufficient bounds checking in AVEVideoEncoder but has not published the affected operation or input path. Exploitation requires an app able to reach the component; the confirmed consequence is an unexpected system crash, with no reported code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
