Authenticated SQL execution via unchecked schema privilege
Published May 14, 2026 · Updated May 14, 2026
Missing authorization in PostgreSQL CREATE TYPE before 18.4, 17.10, 16.14, 15.18, and 14.23 allows remote authenticated users to execute SQL. CREATE TYPE fails to verify CREATE privilege on a multirange type schema, letting an object creator place attacker-controlled types where another query resolves them through search_path. A database login with object-creation rights is required; a victim query then invokes SQL functions chosen by the attacker, exposing or altering data within that victim role's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
