Credential disclosure via cross-origin header replay
Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 19, 2026
Information disclosure in Model Context Protocol Rust SDK before 2.1.0 allows remote attackers to steal custom HTTP credentials via redirects. StreamableHttpClientTransport applies caller-supplied custom_headers to requests made by a reqwest client whose default policy follows cross-origin 307 or 308 redirects. Exploitation requires a malicious or compromised MCP endpoint to redirect a client configured with custom authentication headers, exposing those credentials to the redirect target.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
